We are screening The Choral, with adjustments made to make the experience more relaxed. The film will be preceded by a countdown timer, which will start counting down at the advertised start time. There will be no adverts or trailers and throughout the film there will be lower sound and our lights will be left on a low setting. It is crucial that neurodivergent guests, their families and carers, can access our cinema with settings to help overcome barriers to entry. All are welcome to attend, but empathy and patience is a must. We do ask that - if possible - you support the cinema in purchasing snacks and/or drinks, but understand that some guests may have very specific preferences that we are happy to allow (or if you want specific products in your own cup/tub, we will accommodate this also).
About the Film: 1916. As war rages on the Western Front, the Choral Society in Ramsden, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. The Choral’s ambitious committee, determined to press ahead, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) – driven, uncompromising, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together.
